Well hello there…

My name is Alexandra and I am a set decorator in the film industry, head designer of the Velvet Design Group and a luxury home stager living in sunny Sarasota, Florida. I am passionate about design whether it be decorating a set for a film, reimagining a living space for a client, or staging luxury homes to sell.

I have a Bachelors Degree in the Business of Art and Design from the prestigious Ringling College of Art and Design with a concentration in film production and advertising.

In Set Decoration, I have a knack for tasteful, discerning design with fun and lovely aesthetics, creating textures of imagination and a visual language that speaks delicately to everyday life. I love a natural approach to set decoration, romancing the ordinary with integrated elements to strengthen the connection to the characters while creating a very lived in, every day look to reflect human nature and behavior. Prior to my foray into set decoration, I enjoyed working in the prop department for several years where my attention to detail was honed.

In Design, I own The Velvet Design Group, where we love learning the story of a person's life and weaving it into every space, blending old with new to create the perfect combination of history and beauty. My aim is to always keep the client’s personality and needs at the forefront of the design while I create a beautiful sanctuary for them to live in comfortably. I specialize in transforming spec houses into personalized, custom spaces that are warm and lovely.

In Home Staging, I am the lead stager with The Staging Room, a Sarasota based home staging company. I see the potential transformation in any space and enjoy the challenge, whether it be a 2 million dollar condo on the beach or a private 20 million dollar mansion. We specialize in creating inviting spaces that allow a buyer to imagine the possibilities in a classic design forward way.

I have been honored with receiving the 2020 alumni award for exceptional creative work and outstanding achievement from my alma mater, Ringling College of Art & Design.
